Privacy Policy

Gilda’s Club Westchester is a free cancer support community where men, women and children living with all types of cancer, and their families and friends, come together for emotional and social support as an adjunct to medical care.

Gilda’s Club Westchester is a not-for-profit organization supported by donations from individuals, corporations and foundations. In order to sustain our unique Program, Gilda’s Club Westchester board members, staff and volunteers work hard to build a financial foundation that allows us to offer our free Program to members. Gilda’s Club Westchester will not solicit our members for donations against their wishes. However, we welcome donations, as well as overall help in our fundraising efforts, if members are so inclined.

Gilda’s Club Westchester Privacy, Donor and Security Policy

Gilda’s Club Westchester cares about your privacy and wants you to feel comfortable and secure in your use of our site. We urge you to read this notice explaining our online information practices. By visiting our website, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Notice.

Gilda’s Club Westchester does not sell or otherwise disclose user information outside the organization. This policy has no exceptions. We do not sell or exchange your information with any other organization: public, private or non-profit.

There are two types of information that we collect:
a) Personal Information: this is “individually identifiable” information you provide to us.

b) Aggregate Information: standard web server/visitor traffic information, regarding overall website traffic patterns. Normally, web servers collect this type of basic information as part of their web log processes. We do not report on individual user sessions.

How is this information used?

Personal Information
For certain transactions such as information requests, contributions, etc., Gilda’s Club Westchester requests individually identifiable information from its users. This information may include the following: first and last name, street address, city, state, zip code, telephone number, email address, and subject of inquiry (i.e., information requests).

In the case of contributions:
a) To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we strive to maintain physical, electronic, and administrative safeguards to secure the information that we collect online. This includes the use of the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for processing contributions securely.

b) We process standard credit card information (card number, card type, expiration date) via a secure, encrypted SSL session. SSL is the proven standard for secure web messaging transactions.

c) In the case of memorial contributions and honor contributions, a personalized gift announcement is sent to a designated recipient, usually the family member of the deceased or the honoree. Therefore, we will request the name, address, city, state, zip code, and telephone number for your designated recipient.

d) We maintain records of all contributions to Gilda’s Club Westchester. Personal information is private and confidential and we do not sell, trade, rent or share names, addresses, telephone numbers, or e-mail addresses of our donors. Additionally, all information is stored in a secure location accessible only by authorized staff. Gilda’s Club Westchester keeps a record of each donor’s giving history and this information is kept on file for IRS purposes and is also used in our development process to analyze overall giving patterns in order to make accurate budget projections. Gilda’s Club Westchester may contact you with further communications.

Aggregate Information
In addition to information provided by our users, Gilda’s Club Westchester uses the normal Internet tracking tools associated with standard Internet protocols and web-based systems. This system information is typically stored in log files and is used for aggregate reporting. Aggregate reporting includes: total number of visitors, most visited sections, peak traffic times, etc.

Log files are simply transaction records that web servers maintain. These log files are used for recording information such as: service provider IP addresses, browser versions, referring websites, search terms used, average number of pages requested, average duration of visit, and/or total visitor traffic.

We use aggregate information gathered from your visit to better design our website. This information supplies us with a broad picture of how people use our website and helps us to manage our system and to better serve our users.
