HOW DOES IT WORK?
The program gives you a new set of powerful skills for taking control of your cancer journey. You and other patients and/or caregivers come together via ZOOM video conference and are guided through a skills-training course. THIS IS NOT A TRADITIONAL SUPPORT GROUP. Each session is one hour and thirty minutes and is a highly structured, solution- focused, educational experience that teaches concrete tools for living fully in the presence of illness.
HOW DO WE KNOW IT WORKS?
Thousands of patients have told us it works and a 2008 study at The Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center validated what patients were saying. Patients in the Duke Study, who were taught the tools of The Seven Pillars of Personal Strength™ curriculum, perceived their quality-of-life as improved across a range of symptoms including distress, despair, helplessness, hopelessness and fatigue – in spite of the fact that their disease was progressing.
