Join us for the first-ever on-line Gilda’s Club Westchester “No Gala, Gala”
With the upmost concern about the health and safety of our community, we have decided to hold a “No Gala, Gala” in lieu of the Gilda’s Club Westchester Spring Gala that was scheduled to take place at The Ritz-Carlton New York, Westchester on Thursday, March 26th. We will miss being together as a community, however, in abundance of caution, we have decided that this is the best option given large group gatherings are strongly discouraged at this time.
As you may know, the Gilda’s Annual Spring Gala is our largest fundraiser of the year which enables us to offer FREE support to anyone —men, women, teens and children — impacted by any type of cancer in the Westchester community. Now, more than ever, our Gilda’s members need mental health support and that means being able to continue with their support groups and one-on-one counseling sessions. Many cancer patients are experiencing increased feelings of depression and isolation, as well as heightened anxiety, particularly because many are immunosuppressed and at high-risk for COVID 19.
Thus, in lieu of the fundraising that typically takes place on-site at our annual Spring Gala, we will be now be holding the first-ever on-line Gilda’s Club Westchester “No Gala, Gala” and asking our loyal donors and supporters like YOU to help us raise these critical funds. Not only will we be electronically recognizing the incredible efforts of our 2020 honorees, Louis Cappelli, DDW-Law and Henie Simon, but we will also be asking our loyal donors and supporters to help us reach our goal.
Additional items we now need to invest in include:
New technology to facilitate on-line support groups and workshops
Increased staffing for individual one-on-one counseling over the phone
Expanded support for our Spanish speaking population and our post treatment individuals
Targeted programs for the new Gilda’s Teen Center set to break ground later this spring.
We are incredibly grateful for your understanding, generosity and support during these uncertain times.
