In order to meet the expanding needs of individuals impacted by cancer in our community, Gilda’s Club Westchester partners with medical groups to provide emotional support and educational programs both in and outside of our Clubhouse.
Gilda’s Club Westchester at WESTMED Medical Group
Gilda’s Club Westchester provides outreach and psycho-social support to Breast Cancer patients who have been referred by a member of their WESTMED medical team. We offer short term counseling both on –site at WESTMED and at Gilda’s Club Westchester. In addition, Gilda’s Club Westchester provides supportive programs throughout the year at WESTMED Medical Group in Rye.
Coping skills Workshop
As a complement to medical care, this 6 week workshop, facilitated by a Licensed Social Worker, addresses the emotional experience of living with cancer and ways to effectively manage intense feelings, enhance communication and learn coping techniques to decrease anxiety. This workshop is open to anyone living with cancer.
The transition from active treatment to post treatment is a difficult journey for many cancer survivors. This four-part series, facilitated by a Licensed Social Worker, is comprised of supportive and educational sessions for individuals who are post-treatment, with any cancer diagnosis and any course of treatment.
