Welcome to Gilda’s Club Westchester

Mission and Philosophy

The mission of Gilda’s Club Westchester is to create welcoming communities of free support for everyone living with cancer – men, women, teens and children – along with their families and friends.

Our innovative programs are an essential complement to medical care, providing individual counseling, support groups, workshops, education and social activities.

Since 2001, Gilda’s Club Westchester has offered support for people whose lives have been touched by cancer… all types of cancer. It’s a warm, inviting place where everyone can come together to share their experiences.

Free of charge and non–profit, Gilda’s Club Westchester offers emotional support, healthy lifestyle workshops and activities, and social events in a nonresidential, yet home–like setting.

You won’t find medical care here. Here is where you, your family and friends will find emotional and social support as a supplement to medical care. Here is where support, information, fellowship, laughter and understanding meet. All free of charge!

The first Gilda’s Club opened in 1995 in New York City in fulfillment of Gilda Radner’s dream to have an informal, welcoming place, like a clubhouse, where people living with cancer, their families and friends, might come together to laugh and cry, exchange information and experiences, find support and pass it on to others. Other clubhouses soon opened around the country, creating 22 clubhouses nationwide.

In July 2009, Gilda’s Club and the Wellness Community joined forces to become the Cancer Support Community. Today, through a network of over 50 local affiliates, more than 100 satellite locations and on-line resources, we bring the highest quality emotional and social support to millions of people touched by cancer.

Gilda’s Club Westchester opened its signature red doors on Maple Avenue in White Plains in 2001. The Westchester clubhouse serves Westchester and Rockland Counties as well as Connecticut’s lower Fairfield County. About half of our members live in or near White Plains; the other half live in nearby towns and cities or in Connecticut.

Since our inception, nearly 3,000 individuals have become members, plus thousands of others have dropped in to attend various lectures and events.
