On Wednesday, May 30th more than 200 women from all over Westchester participated in the Third Annual Gilda’s Club Westchester Mah Jongg Invitational at Willow Ridge Country Club in Harrison, New York. Whether they came to play, learn or have lunch, all attendees joined together for an afternoon of fun and camaraderie in support of our mission to provide emotional and social support to any one touched by any type of cancer in our community. In just three years, this event has more than doubled its participation and raised over $150,000 for Gilda’s Club Westchester.
Co-Chairs Wendy Kleinman and Jodi Shapiro created this event with the goal of honoring their mothers, both of whom passed away from cancer and shared a love for the game of Mah Jongg. Wendy and Jodi spoke at the Invitational and were amazed at how incredible the response has been to this event year after year. Cynthia Adams, a member of Gilda’s Club, also spoke about her cancer experience and how Gilda’s Club has helped her and her family learn to live with cancer.
