2015 Teen Recognition Night

On Monday, May 11th Gilda’s Club Westchester held its 4th Annual Teen Recognition Night to honor teens who participate in its programs and volunteer their time and talents to make a positive impact on the Gilda’s community.

The 2015 Red Door Teen Award was presented to Melissa Polin. Melissa is a senior at Scarsdale High School and joined the Youth Committee three years ago. Melissa served as a Teen Ambassador for Gilda’s Club Westchester speaking at various events over the years and served as an Officer on the Youth Committee. She has demonstrated enthusiasm and dedication in her participation at Gilda’s Club Westchester and fundraising for the clubhouse through raising money for the Stair Climb and A Cappella Extravaganza.

Gilda’s Club also recognized members of the Youth Committee, a group of 40+ volunteers from schools throughout Westchester County, who plan awareness events and fundraisers for Gilda’s Club Westchester. This group also helps with events at the Clubhouse for younger children and families. Their hard work directly impacts the families that come to Gilda’s Club Westchester and has a tremendous influence on the program Gilda’s Club Westchester is able to offer its members. The Officers of the Youth Committee (Zachery Falk, David Scharf, Melissa Polin, Jenna Stein, and Gabrielle Iarocci) were also honored for their leadership and contribution.

The New Member of the Year Award was presented to Clara Choate. Clara is a junior at Pellham Memorial HS and joined the Youth Committee this year. Clara has stood out in her commitment to Gilda’s Club and the Youth Committee and impressed us with her maturity and dedication. She also went above and beyond in her fundraising for this year’s Stair Climb.
