Despite the threat of looming thunderstorms, on Monday, July 14th 72 people from Westchester and surrounding areas came out to participate in the Gilda’s Club Westchester 2014 Golf Invitational at Quaker Ridge Golf Club in Scarsdale. Morning showers gave way to an afternoon of mild weather and sunshine, allowing golfers to enjoy hours on the greens at one of Westchester’s most renowned courses. Later in the evening, attendees were treated to a dinner, program and award ceremony for the afternoon’s competition.
During the program, Gilda’s Club Westchester member Matt Stolper, who is married with three adult children, shared his story of being diagnosed with an incurable form of Multiple Myeloma in 2012. Matt also spoke about the support he and his family have received at Gilda’s Club Westchester and how that participating in the various programs we offer has provided each of them with the necessary tools and individualized support to navigate through this difficult time together.
This event, which raised nearly $100,000, would not have been possible without the support of our event sponsors: The Stern Family, The Stuntz Family, EisnerAmper, Kohl Construction Group, SL Green Realty and Stonehenge.
Thank you to Event Co-chairs Jim Stern and Mike Stuntz as well as the rest of the Golf Invitational committee: Michele Benach, Wayne Benach, Carol Bennett, Stephen Chapin, Leslie Danish, Andrew Falk, Jonathan Litt, Harri Taranto, Cindy Valk-Danish, Gil Wang and Susie Wang.
